On Sunday the Track & Field team closed out the indoor season at the Catholic League Championship at the University of Chicago. The varsity 4×800 team of Jack Mongan, Joe Sweeney, Steve Sloan, & Brian McElligott placed second. Other strong performances came from Jim Baker (third in the long jump, sixth in the triple jump) and Michael Butler-Kindle who scored in four events including a fourth place finish in the 60 high hurdles.
At the Frosh/Soph level, a total team effort was the difference allowing the Crusaders to win the Catholic League title. Event champions were Justin Palmer in the 60 high hurdles, Tommy Gleeson in the 800, and Ty McCoy in the 400. Second place performances came from Zach Wareyko in the shot put, McCoy in the 200m, and the 4×200 team of Tre Gladney, Ronan Dolan, Palmer and Malachi Dameron. The 4×400 team of Troy McManigal, Dolan, Giacomo Iraci, and Palmer also took second to secure the victory.
The team will open up the outdoor season with the ‘Crusader Duel’ on Saturday, April 1st.
