Brother Rice junior Matt O’Donnell entered the season in a three-way battle to be the Crusaders’ starting setter.
The competition is still ongoing, but O’Donnell is making a strong push to lock down the position.
O’Donnell had 24 assists Wednesday as visiting Brother Rice rolled to a 25-20, 25-12 win over St. Rita in a Catholic League Blue match.
“We’re all competing in practice and that’s nice,” O’Donnell said. “My teammates are really pushing me to make the best sets I can. They’ve been really helpful.”
Lewis recruit Joe Kenzinger had nine kills and five blocks for Brother Rice (10-4, 4-0). Ryan Banky added nine kills and Tom Kleist had 12 digs.
