On Saturday the Cross Country team won the IHSA Regional Championship. This is the 7th title in school history.
The Crusaders executed the race strategy beautifully by starting out in 6th place at the mile before taking control of the race. Joe Sweeney led the way with a 7th place finish. Steve Sloan (12th), Tommy Gleeson (15th), and Dan Spellman (17th) all ran personal bests. Jack Mongan was the final scorer in 24th place and passed a couple runners in the final 200 meters to seal the victory. Justin Frias finished 51st and Jack Reddington was 58th, also in a new personal best.
This Saturday the team will compete in the Wheaton Academy Sectional at Kress Creek Farms for the chance to become the 5th team in school history to qualify for the state finals.
