Chicago high school boys basketball will look very different when players from the 2000 Bloom and Brother Rice teams meet at Chicago’s St. Xavier University’s Shannon Center on Friday, September 10, at 7 p.m. CDT as part of Season 3 of Gatorade REPLAY. The teams will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to replay their 2000 super sectional game that ended in controversy after a questionable last second tip-in at the buzzer gave Bloom the win despite official game clock disputes. For those who aren’t able to attend, the game can be viewed live online on the official REPLAY website, replaytheseries.com and Comcast SportsNet Chicago’s website, CSNChicago.com. Additionally, a live tape delay broadcast of the game will air on ComcastSportsNet Chicago on Saturday, September 11 at 3:00 p.m. CDT and Sunday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m CDT.
”We’ve been taking our training and nutrition regimen very seriously because we know Bloom will bring it on the 10th and we need to be ready to perform at a high level,” said Mark Telander, guard, for Brother Rice. “We hope fans of both teams come out to cheer us on, but I won’t lie, – I hope there’s more maroon and orange than blue and white in the bleachers at St. X on game day!”
Game day tickets are general admission and can be purchased at both high schools beginning at 9:00 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, August 25, for $10 each. There will be a limit of four tickets per person and they can be purchased from Bloom’s athletic office and Brother Rice’s main office during normal operating hours. On game day, doors will open at 6:00 p.m. CDT with a 7:00 p.m. CDT tip-off.
