The New Zealand All -Blacks are in town to face the USA Eagles. The sold-out match is at Soldier Field on Saturday, November 1. As part of the historic match, Brother Rice rugby players have participated in several events the week before.
On Saturday, October 25, Dan Howard participated in an intra-squad match during the AIG Rugby Rookie Festival at Jackson Park. Following the match, he was selected captain for the upcoming Illinois Select team –vs. Missouri on Saturday, November 1, prior to the All-Blacks/Eagles match. On Monday, October 27, Howard also participated in an Adidas rugby clinic at Union Station / Downtown-Chicago with the New Zealand All-Black. He was featured during a sports piece on the CBS Channel 2 10:00 P.M. news and was also filmed for a New Zealand newscast.
On Thursday, October 30, Coach Fee and the rugby team volunteered manning the coat check table at a black-tie event at Union Station.
On Saturday, November 1, Dan Howard will act as captain for the Illinois Select team vs. Missouri. The game is at Altgeld Park, 515 S. Washtenaw Ave, Chicago – kickoff is at 9:30 A.M. The New Zealand – USA match follows at Soldier Field; kickoff is at 3:00 P.M. and will be nationally broadcast on NBC. Brother Rice rugby team member Matt Pikowski will be the ball boy for this national event.
