| Head Coach – John McCarthy | ||
| Coach McCarthy currently enters his 1st season as head baseball coach at Brother Rice High School. Before coming to Brother Rice, Coach McCarthy spent four years at St. Rita High School. In 2007, Coach McCarthy lead St. Rita High School to a Sophomore Catholic League Blue Title. Coach McCarthy plans to bring an aggressive style to Brother Rice, which is built on team chemistry, energy, hustle, and persistence. Throughout his coaching career, Coach McCarthy has been able to work with baseball intelligence such as Dave Payton (Illinois Sparks), Gary Johnson (Crestwood Blaze), John Szecf (Kansas State assistant coach), Jonathon Lucroy (Milwaukee Brewers), John Cangelosi (13 year MLB player), and Alan Dunn (LSU assistant baseball coach). As a player, Coach McCarthy was an all-conference performer in both baseball and football at St. Rita High School. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 27th Round of the 2002 MLB Draft. He opted to attend Mesa Community College and spent his final two years as a standout leadoff hitter and outfielder for the Ragin Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette. He spent three years pursuing professional baseball with the Windy City Thunderbolts and Gary Southshore Railcats. In 2007, Coach McCarthy was a member of the Frontier League Champion Windy City Thunderbolt team that had a league record 68 wins. | ||
| Assistant Coach – Sean McBride | ||
| Coach McBride enters his 1st season on the varsity coaching staff. Coach McBride spent 4 seasons at St. Rita High School coaching the sophomore baseball team. During his tenure, Coach McBride instructed future varsity players that participated in back to back state championship games in 2009 and 2010. His responsibilities on staff will include outfield defense and hitting. As a student at Carl Sandburg High School, McBride starred as a two sport athlete in basketball and baseball. His accolades include all-conference in basketball and all-area in baseball. He continued his playing career at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN. Coach McBride exploded onto college baseball in 2004 as an all-conference and all-region player while leading the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a .406 average. He graduated from St. Joseph with a degree in Finance and currently works for the Chicago Board of Trade. | ||
| Assistant Coach – Kevin Sefcik | ||
| Coach Sefcik enters his 1st season on the varsity coaching staff. Coach Sefcik is a former Major League baseball player appearing in 425 games amassing a total of 212 hits, 6 home runs, and 56 RBI. His career Major League batting average was .275. Throughout his career, Coach Sefcik had the ability to play eight positions on the field. Coach Sefcik is a graduate of St. Xavier University and drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 33rd round of the 1993 MLB draft. In 2001, Coach Sefcik was inducted into the St. Xavier Athletic Hall of Fame. Coach Sefcik has spent over 10 years coaching and instructing players in college and the professional ranks respectively. His responsibilities on staff will include defensive strategy and hitting. | ||

| Head Coach – Tim O’Connell ’03 | ||
| Coach O’ Connell enters his second year as head sophomore baseball coach. A graduate of Christ the King, Coach O’ Connell played four years of baseball and football at Brother Rice. Tim was valedictorian of his class and gold medal winner at Brother Rice. As a player, Tim served as captain of the ’03 Crusaders, which won its first regional in 20 years and ended as Sectional finalists. He finished his career with an average above .300 and won the coveted "Tony Hanrahan Award." Tim went on to the University of Illinois and graduated in Accountancy from the College of Business. Currently, Tim is the Director of Admissions at Brother Rice. In addition, Tim has been involved in the football program for the past five years. | ||
